Shaoxing University is located in Shaoxing, a famous historical and cultural city and the hometown of Chinese calligraphy. In 2005, Shaoxing University established Lanting Calligraphy Art College in Lanting, Shaoxing, which mainly engaged in teaching Chinese calligraphy . The major Chinese Calligraphy in Shaoxing University is the first calligraphy undergraduate major added in the national undergraduate major catalogue.
In order to carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture --calligraphy, Shaoxing University has established Lanting Academy of Calligraphy overseas.
So far,Lanting Academy of Calligraphy have been established in 10 countries, including the U.S., Canada, Russia, Switzerland,New Zealand ，Potland ,the Czech Republic ,Ukraine, Thailand and Italy.
